WELCOME TO THE ANNUITIES FOUNDATION
needs a Fixed Indexed annuity
While current low interest rates are great for mortgages and other debts we might hold, it can mean something entirely different for our retirement savings. If you’re just getting started with a retirement Plan – or have been contributing to one for a while – now is a great time to consider selecting a Fixed Indexed Annuity (FIA) as one of your allocation options if your plan offers one.
403(b) and 457(b) Plans, which are designed to supplement your public pension, are comprised of different financial vehicles that offer the potential to grow tax-deferred, helping to build your retirement savings. The financial product choices usually found in the 403(b)s and 457(b)s are mutual funds and annuities, which can include fixed annuities, fixed indexed annuities and variable annuities*.
A Fixed Indexed Annuity (FIA) is an insurance product designed to accumulate money for retirement. It offers guarantees against loss of what’s in the account (the premiums you have paid, and the interest earned) due to a decline in the index**.
So, why should you consider choosing a fixed indexed annuity within your plan?
There is more growth potential than a traditional fixed annuity. Interest is credited based in-part on the change of a market index, such as the S&P 500***. This means you reap some of the benefits of an up market, but never lose value in a down market due to a decline in the index since you are not directly participating in any stock or equity investments.
It provides downside protection. With increased market volatility, it’s critical to ensure your retirement savings are protected when the market index is down. FIAs are structured so you will never earn less than 0% interest in the index strategy due to an index decline.
An FIA can guarantee you a lifetime stream of income during retirement, supplementing your pension and helping you live the retirement of your dreams.
If you are you one of the 95% of people interested in owning an annuity that provides a guaranteed income each month be sure to contact a professional to help guide the process.
If your 403(b) or 457(b) Plan offers you multiple financial product choices, make sure to consider the FIA. And if your plan doesn’t include it, reach out to your employer.
